Obligatory picture, because why else would you click on this? And don’t hate, after 2 years the plasti-dip is showing its age.
My credit card just had a fraudulent charge put on it, so I can’t use a credit car for a few days until I get a new credit card. I don’t currently have a job since Bar prep is taking up all of my time- it’s sadistic. I’m living off of savings from my old job so things are tight. By that I mean that I’m living off my credit card.
So I headed over to Advance Auto to pick up a quart of oil (been burning quite a bit lately), and decided to pick up a drink on the way. Of course, I used my only source of cash, my debit card.
When I went to buy the $8 quart of motor oil, it said that there were insufficient funds. Swipe after swipe. Did I really just buy a soda instead of making sure my car doesn’t run low on oil?
WHAT HAVE I DONE!?

Pricey, I know. I’m using “high-mileage-synthetic-super-duper” oil in an effort to keep a smoky 183,000 mile BP8 engine running for as long as possible Maybe I bought into the marketing, but Id like to use nice oil to keep the car happy for what life it’s got left. This is also the only oil I could find which doesn’t give me a really “tickety-tappety” valvetrain sound.

I read once that it’s better to use high-mileage standard oil instead of synthetic. The analogy he used was a handful of marbles - synthetic was like having them all the same size and regular oil was a variety of sizes. There was something about the variety of sizes being better at getting into and providing lubrication for different sized gaps.
I have no idea whether or not this is true. Perhaps Oppo has an oil expert who will weigh in with a more educated opinion.
